Took off today so that I could settle my university stuffs. Went to the bank this afternoon to prepare a bank draft for Monash University's downpayment. My course fee is AUD$21,200 per year excluding accomodation and expenses. My course is three years and the exchange rate is 1.27 so go do your math lol.
Then I went to Safra Tampines to renew my passport coz I need it to apply for student visa. But.... The office is no longer there!!!! Luckily IDP said that there's no hurry to renew my passport yet. So down I went to IDP to submit my downpayment as confirmation of my acceptance and also to apply for accomodation.
However when i wanted to apply for accomodation, they said that they needed another bank draft of AUD$40 as application fees and two passport size photos. -.- Why can't they like tell me in advance so I don't have to make another trip down? It's already quite late and I'm not guaranteed a room on campus even if I apply now. Anyway I'm hoping that I can get on campus accomodation lah, coz if I rent apartments, I'll have to share and I'm not very keen on sharing my life with another person unless my flatmate's a girl AND looks like BoA. LOL
So I just settled the paperwork and I'll probably go down on Saturday to settle my accomodation. It's like the most important thing now. If not I'll have to bring a big piece of cardboard along with me and sleep under a train track.
That's about all, will update more in the future. Take care Everyone!
It's not healthy to drink a variety of liquor in one night
Updates !! As requested by a loyal and dedicated reader who's also the only person who bothers to leave comments lol.
Anyway on friday, me and Kevin organised a dinner gathering for our camp. Unfortunately, Kevin fell sick in the morning and couldn't join us. We initially wanted to eat at Sakura in Parkway Parade, but upon Randolph's recommendation, we decided to eat at "The Magic of Chong Qing Hot Pot". It's located on the fourth storey of Tanglin Shopping Centre.
Basically it's a steamboat buffet and it's ala carte style, meaning you order and the food comes. It's better as you don't have to go queue up and rush with the other kiasu over-zealous Singaporeans for the food (e.g. Marina East Steamboat). There are 2 types of soup which they serve; the standard chicken soup and tom yam soup. They also have a special sauce to go with the steamboat. The waitress said it's to neutralise the spiciness of the tom yam soup, which really is relatively spicy. You wouldn't have guessed it coz the sauce was spicy to start with. But I suppose it's called "以毒攻毒". Oh yeah just in case you decide to go and don't know what to do with the sauces, you're supposed to mix the 4 together.
Besides the usual food that you cook for steamboat, they also have other dishes that come with the buffet. Xiao Long Bao, Spring Roll, Sugar coated bread, Guo Tie and a Water Chestnut Dessert just to name a few. They come in only one serving though, if not I would have ordered more xiao long baos and guo ties! haha
The price is slightly on the high side though, about $40 per pax. But if you don't mind paying more for good food, then this is the place to go ! Do book in advance if you decide to give it a try as it's always full house. If you have a large group of people going, then you can request for a room.
After dinner, half the group wanted to go home and rest whereas me, Ryan, Smurf and Qin Yuan decided that the night was still young and that we're not ready to head home yet. So the four of us decided to head to Clarke Quay to see if there's any place where we can chill out. It was quite late already when we reached Clarke Quay and most bars were filled up.
We were contemplating whether to patronise hedkandi bar or clinic, until we decided to go hedkandi bar instead as there seem to be more girls there LOL. The music blasting from MOS played its part too. We had to settle for seats outside as it was quite packed inside. Then came the part of ordering our drinks. Should we just open a bottle of chivas or should we order cocktails ? We were hesitating about opening a bottle of chivas because the price was on the steep side. At $200/bottle, I can open a bottle and order another jug of cocktail at another pub.
We finally decided to order a variety of drinks instead of just opening a bottle. So we ordered a bucket of heineken(6 bottles), a jug of bourbon coke with Jack Daniels, a jug of Tequila 7up and a cup of cocktail of our choice.
I ordered Colorado Bulldong which consists of Vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream and some other stuffs which I forgot. Smurf, Ryan and Qin Yuan ordered White Russian, Singapore Sling and Bloody Mary respectively. I took a sip from each of their drink and their bloody mary was a vile drink I tell you. I don't know what they added inside the drink which makes your throat burn and it's NOT the alcohol if some of you might suggest. Not only that, I couldn't taste the Vodka at all and the tomato juice was so thick that it almost tasted like an organic drink instead of a cocktail. No prizes for guessing whether Qin Yuan finished the drink.
We sat down and had a great time just chilling out and talking about our time in NS. Through the 1½years we spent in our unit, many things happened. Be it pleasant or unpleasant, we all faced it together and forged a close bond between us. Ryan and Smurf are going to study in SIM, Qin Yuan's going Poly and I'm going Brisbane for studies. Hopefully we'll still be able to keep in contact after we ORD.
Will try clinic the next time and I'm looking forward to drinking from a drip and getting served by babes in nurse uniforms!
